Blossom House

Blossom House is a residential care home that provides personal care and support for up to 31 older people, including those living with dementia, physical disabilities, or mental health needs. At the time of the inspection, 24 residents were living at the home. The latest report highlights a well-managed and compassionate environment where residents receive person-centred care, though some administrative processes, such as the manager's registration with the CQC, were still being finalized during the visit.

Residents are protected from avoidable harm through robust safeguarding processes, well-maintained premises, regular equipment checks, and secure medication management supported by monthly audits. Staff recruitment is thorough, and there are sufficient numbers of skilled personnel on duty, though continuous monitoring of falls and safety risks remains an ongoing priority.

Care is based on detailed, digital assessments reflecting physical, mental, and social needs, with staff demonstrating a strong understanding of mental capacity legislation and consent. Staff have access to comprehensive training, including the Care Certificate and specialist topics like dementia, ensuring effective outcomes such as early intervention for health issues.

Staff build warm, compassionate relationships with residents, treating them with dignity and respect while actively promoting independence and privacy. Families and visitors are made very welcome, with staff extending kindness and support to relatives during overnight stays.

Care plans are highly personalized and tailored to individual preferences, daily routines, and communication needs, including support for sensory impairments. Activities and social events are regularly organized to prevent isolation, and the home handles complaints appropriately while offering sensitive end-of-life care in collaboration with specialist nurses.

The service benefits from effective leadership, with management maintaining improvements made since the previous inspection and utilizing quality assurance systems. Although the manager's formal registration with the CQC was still in progress during the inspection, the provider maintained full legal responsibility and clear oversight of the home's operation.
