Residents enjoyed a balanced diet with ample choice, and the home worked collaboratively with external healthcare professionals to ensure timely and appropriate care when needed. While the building is purpose-built, plans were in place for redecoration in areas showing signs of wear.
Regarding the caring aspect, residents and their families consistently praised the staff for their kindness, attentiveness, and compassionate approach. Staff engaged with residents respectfully, upholding their dignity and privacy at all times, and actively encouraged independence. Residents were supported to maintain relationships with friends and family, and personal care was always conducted with utmost privacy. The home was also noted to be accommodating of shared rooms for residents who wished to live together.
The service proved responsive to residents' needs, with clear communication strategies in place for those with specific needs, such as hearing loss. Care plans were personalised and adhered to resident wishes, even when these differed from standard recommendations. The home actively encouraged engagement through a variety of individual activities and organised outings based on resident interests, such as a trip to a war memorial. Celebrations for festivals and birthdays were a regular feature, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.
In terms of leadership, the service was consistently well-led, with a knowledgeable and supportive management team. Staff felt valued and could approach management with any concerns, contributing to a positive and open working environment. The home actively engaged residents and their families through surveys and regular meetings, using feedback to drive improvements, such as increasing planned garden activities based on resident requests. While overall leadership was strong, a resident survey did highlight a desire for more frequent access to the garden.
