This report summarises an inspection of Greys Residential Home conducted in November 2018. The inspection reviewed the overall quality of care provided, focusing on whether the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led. Previous concerns regarding safety identified in 2017 have been addressed. Overall, people expressed feeling safe and happy, and found the atmosphere to be friendly and relaxed, with staff providing kind, compassionate, and respectful support. The home maintains comprehensive and up-to-date records, and ensures residents have balanced diets and access to necessary health professionals. The environment is clean, well-maintained, and safe for both residents and staff.
On safety, the home is considered safe, with sufficient skilled and vetted staff who follow effective procedures for safeguarding, infection control, and risk management. Medicine administration is safe and well-documented, with robust storage and disposal practices. Lessons are learned when incidents occur, and staff are well-trained in recognising and responding to abuse. The building and equipment are regularly checked, ensuring a secure environment.
In terms of how effective the care is, staff are well-trained and qualified to meet residents' needs. Care plans incorporate nutritional monitoring, and the home's layout is designed to be accessible and comfortable. The service adheres to the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, with staff receiving appropriate training and conducting assessments.
