Eastcroft Nursing Home

Regarding the effectiveness of care, the report indicates that staff training records showed a significant failure rate, and not all staff had completed essential training or induction, raising concerns about their competence. The home's environment did not always take into account the needs of residents living with dementia.

On the aspect of caring, residents did not always receive care that was respectful or dignified, with instances of shared clothing and disrespectful language in care plans. While staff were observed to be patient and kind, there was a lack of routine feedback sought from residents about their care experience.

In relation to responsiveness, care plans did not accurately reflect residents' needs and lacked guidance for person-centred care. The range of activities provided was limited and did not cater to all residents' needs. The home also did not consistently work within the principles of the Mental Capacity Act, impacting residents' choices and control.

Finally, concerning the leadership of the home, there was a failure to develop effective governance and quality assurance systems, leading to limited oversight of daily operations and a lack of incident review for learning. The provider also failed to notify the CQC of certain incidents as required.
