Epworth Grange

Epworth Grange is a residential care home in Bury operated by Methodist Homes, providing care for older people with up to 41 residents. At the time of our inspection, 38 people were living at the service. Families and residents consistently share positive feedback about the home, highlighting a warm atmosphere, consistent staffing, and an environment where people feel secure, valued, and well supported in their day-to-day lives.

When looking at safety, residents and their relatives feel confident in the care provided, supported by sufficient staffing levels and thorough recruitment checks. Risks to individuals are properly assessed, and the building and equipment undergo regular safety checks while maintaining a clean environment.

The home ensures effective care through structured staff training, inductions, and ongoing support, while working closely with external health professionals such as dieticians. Staff clearly understand legal frameworks regarding mental capacity and consent, and residents enjoy a balanced diet with flexible meal options tailored to their preferences.

Caring relationships are built naturally due to a long-standing staff team who know the residents well and treat them with genuine kindness and respect. Staff protect residents' privacy and dignity, ensuring they maintain as much personal independence as possible in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

The service is responsive to individual needs, offering personalised care plans, regular activities, and outings that prevent social isolation. While no end-of-life care was being provided during the inspection, the home maintains appropriate policies and remembers former residents through memorial services.

Management and leadership remain strong, supported by regular quality audits, staff meetings, and feedback surveys to drive continuous improvement. The leadership team fosters an open, person-centred culture, working effectively in partnership with local authorities and healthcare agencies to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
