The report provides an overview of the home's performance across these five key areas, highlighting specific observations and outcomes from the inspection visit.
In terms of safety, residents felt secure in the home, with robust risk assessments and clear guidance for staff in place to manage potential health and welfare risks. Accidents and incidents were thoroughly recorded and analysed, and regular checks on the environment and equipment ensured resident safety. Staff recruitment processes were found to be safe, with adequate staffing levels to meet residents' needs. Medicines were managed safely, and appropriate referrals to healthcare professionals were made when residents' needs changed, including support for end-of-life wishes.
Regarding effectiveness, residents received care that led to good outcomes and improved their quality of life. Needs were assessed thoroughly before admission, and care plans were developed in line with national guidelines. Staff received appropriate training and regular supervision, ensuring their skills were up-to-date. Residents were well-supported with nutrition, and the home worked effectively with healthcare professionals to ensure timely and consistent care, with adaptations to the service and environment meeting residents' needs.
The service was found to be caring, with residents treated with kindness, compassion, dignity, and respect. Staff knew residents well, understood their preferences, and responded compassionately to emotional distress. Residents' choices and independence were promoted, and staff respected their privacy and confidentiality. In relation to responsiveness, the home effectively planned personalised care, ensuring residents had choice and control over their lives. Care plans reflected residents' preferences and choices, and staff were noted to know residents well and provide support according to their individual needs. The home also actively sought feedback from residents and their families to make improvements, with a clear system for recording and investigating complaints and apologies offered when things went wrong.
