Lightbowne Hall is a modern residential care home spread across three floors, providing personalized support for up to 52 older individuals, including those living with dementia, autism, or learning disabilities. The home features dedicated lounge and dining areas on every floor, wide corridors for wheelchair access, and adapted facilities designed to promote independence. Families choosing this home can expect a clean, welcoming environment where visiting restrictions are virtually non-existent and communication between staff and relatives remains strong.
Residents consistently felt safe and well-protected from avoidable harm. Equipment was regularly serviced, and safety incidents were properly reviewed to prevent future occurrences, though risk assessments regarding agitation required slightly more detail. Medicines were managed safely, and while the recording of thickening agents for drinks needed prompt fixing during the visit, this was resolved immediately by the staff.
The home delivered effective care supported by robust staff training, supervision, and thorough induction processes. Health needs were closely monitored in partnership with visiting medical professionals like local GPs and district nurses, while dietary requirements were carefully managed with input from the home chef. The environment was well-adapted with visual aids, accessible outdoor spaces, and rooms personalized with residents' own belongings.
Staff demonstrated a genuinely warm, respectful approach and built strong relationships with residents and their families. Carers clearly understood individual preferences, from daily routines and personal care habits to cultural wishes and specific communication needs.
Care plans were personalized and kept under regular review to reflect changing needs, even though a few plans still required minor additional details. Two dedicated staff members actively organized activities and trips on each floor, including armchair exercises and virtual church services, while end-of-life wishes were clearly documented.
Leadership was visible, approachable, and proactive, supported by functional quality assurance systems and regular audits. Although the home was temporarily operating without a permanently registered manager while the deputy manager’s application was being processed, staff felt well-supported, and relatives praised the reliable communication and overall management of the service.
