This report provides an overview of the recent inspection of Rosedale Court. It details findings across key areas of care provision, including safety, effectiveness, how caring the service is, its responsiveness to needs, and overall leadership. The inspection aimed to assess the quality of care and identify any areas requiring improvement.
On safety, the home is not always safe, with risks to residents' health and safety not consistently managed appropriately. This included issues with up-to-date risk assessments, safety checks on equipment, and evacuation plans. Concerns were also raised regarding the management of safeguarding issues and incidents, with processes not always robust enough.
In terms of how effective the care is, residents were not always adequately supported with their eating and drinking, sometimes being left alone without prompting. Staff training and supervision needed improvement, with mandatory training often overdue, impacting the overall effectiveness of care delivery.
The service is caring, with residents and their relatives reporting that staff were kind and supportive. People felt comfortable raising concerns with management, and there was a positive culture noted. Residents were generally treated with dignity and respect, and involvement in their care was a positive aspect.
Regarding responsiveness, people's care was not always personalised, and it was not always clear how individuals and their families were involved in care planning. While the home worked with health professionals, there were mixed reports on how promptly health concerns were escalated.
In terms of leadership, the provider's quality and safety monitoring processes were not effective in identifying and addressing concerns promptly. There was no registered manager in post at the time of inspection, and while a new manager was appointed, their registration was pending. Recruitment checks were not always fully completed, and staffing levels were a concern for some.
