Seven Rivers - Care Home with Nursing Physical Disabilities
CQC ratings by category
Inspected 25 July 2018 · report published 10 November 2018What inspectors found
Seven Rivers care home provides nursing and accommodation for adults with physical disabilities, supporting up to 29 residents at the time of the inspection. Following previous concerns regarding the physical environment and safety measures, recent improvements include a newly installed service lift, redecorated communal areas and resident rooms, and structured supervision and training for overseas volunteers. The management and staff maintain an open, inclusive, and approachable culture, ensuring that residents and their families feel valued and involved in the daily life of the service.
When it comes to safety, residents live in a secure environment where call bells are answered promptly and medications are managed accurately. However, staff must remain attentive to specific safety details, as inspectors noted an unlocked door leading to stairs and a resident's risk assessment that needed updating due to unsupervised access to a nearby lake.
The home delivers effective care supported by regular staff training, supervisions, and proper adherence to mental capacity legislation. Consent is consistently sought, and residents enjoy a varied diet and good access to healthcare professionals like GPs and physiotherapists.
Residents and relatives consistently describe the staff as friendly, thoughtful, and respectful. Care practices actively promote personal independence, dignity, and the maintenance of important relationships with friends and family, backed by the availability of advocacy services when needed.
Care is highly responsive to individual needs, featuring personalised support plans that detail each person's preferences, health requirements, and communication methods. Residents are actively supported to pursue personal goals, hobbies, and social activities tailored to their personal choices and daily wishes.
The service benefits from effective and visible leadership, with a registered manager and regional team who foster an open and empowering atmosphere. Quality monitoring processes are firmly in place, and staff feel well-supported, valued, and encouraged to maintain high standards of care.
