Stamford Court is a purpose-built residential care home in Stalybridge providing personal and nursing care for up to 40 older people and individuals with physical disabilities. During its first inspection following registration, the service demonstrated a strong commitment to person-centred care, a supportive team culture, and a clean, well-maintained environment. Residents and their families consistently described the home as welcoming, comfortable, and managed by approachable leaders who foster positive relationships and high standards of daily support.
People felt secure and protected from avoidable harm, supported by robust recruitment checks, a clean environment with well-maintained equipment, and properly stored medicines. While staffing levels were generally sufficient to meet needs promptly, visitors and residents experienced a reliable approach to safety, though individual risk assessments and infection control measures remained a continuous priority.
Care plans were informed by thorough needs assessments and regular reviews, with effective coordination alongside external healthcare professionals like local doctors. Staff received comprehensive training and supervision to support residents well, though inspectors noted that daily dining details, such as condiments like salt and pepper, were not always proactively offered.
Staff treated residents with genuine warmth, patience, and respect, actively protecting their privacy and involving them in daily choices. The home used creative touches like a wish tree and regular resident meetings to ensure individual preferences and voices were fully heard and valued.
The service delivered tailored care that adapted to changing needs, featuring personalized activities, life story work, and responsive communication support such as large-print books. Residents and families knew how to raise concerns, and any complaints were investigated constructively, alongside thoughtful planning for end-of-life care.
The registered manager fostered an open, inclusive culture with strong teamwork and transparent communication regarding any service issues. Although leadership maintained effective quality checks and audits, inspectors identified that administrative tracking for specific legal deprivation of liberty conditions needed tightening, which management immediately addressed.
