The Care Quality Commission (CQC) recently inspected Home of Compassion, a care home providing residential, nursing, palliative, and respite care for up to 78 older people, including those with dementia. Staff receive comprehensive training and ongoing support, including regular supervision and appraisal, which has improved their skills and confidence. The home's environment has been adapted to meet the needs of residents, including those with dementia, with comfortable communal areas and personalised bedrooms. Residents are well-supported to maintain their health and access healthcare services, with effective communication between the home and external professionals.
On caring, residents and their relatives reported a friendly atmosphere and positive relationships with staff, who treat everyone with kindness and respect. Staff engage thoughtfully with residents, and residents feel well-supported and not rushed. There are ample opportunities for residents to participate in a wide range of activities planned to suit their individual needs and interests.
In terms of responsiveness, residents are encouraged to share their views on the care they receive, and their feedback is actively listened to and acted upon. Communication amongst the staff team is effective, ensuring seamless care delivery. The home has also developed strong working relationships with other professionals involved in residents' care, ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach.
Finally, the home is well-led, with managers and staff working collaboratively. Staff feel valued and well-supported by their colleagues and managers. The provider has implemented effective systems for quality monitoring and has made significant improvements in operational processes. The service now consistently meets regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to providing high-quality care.
