The Foothills is a modern, three-bedroom home on the outskirts of Rochdale providing personal care for up to four younger adults with mental health needs. On the day of our review, three residents lived at the property. Feedback from residents and their relatives highlights a welcoming atmosphere and tailored support aimed at fostering independence. Management and staff maintain a strong commitment to person-centred care, ensuring individuals are actively involved in daily decisions, household tasks, and community activities while receiving appropriate health and social support.
Residents consistently report feeling safe and protected from avoidable harm, supported by robust risk assessments, secure medication management, and a clean, well-maintained environment. Staff undergo thorough recruitment, safeguarding training, and infection control procedures, though one past incident regarding medicines required investigation and appropriate corrective action by the management team.
Care and support consistently achieve positive outcomes while fully respecting legal frameworks surrounding mental capacity and personal consent. Staff receive comprehensive inductions and ongoing professional training, and residents are actively involved in planning their diets, managing meals, and maintaining personal independence.
The home fosters a compassionate and respectful environment where staff build warm, friendly rapport with residents. Individual choices, privacy, and communication are actively respected, and residents are encouraged to maintain social connections, pursue hobbies, and express their views during regular meetings.
Personalised care plans accurately reflect individual preferences, and residents enjoy a variety of meaningful daily activities, including cooking classes, shopping, and games like snooker. Although the home does not currently provide end-of-life care due to supporting younger adults, staff proactively seek specialized training and professional guidance to prepare for future needs.
The service is led by a hands-on registered manager and nominated individual who maintain transparent communication and effective monitoring systems. Regular staff supervision, team meetings, and resident consultations ensure continuous service improvement, though operations remain focused on addressing minor logistical adjustments, such as updating cleaning rotas based on staff feedback.
