Tulipa House

Medical advice was sometimes not sought when necessary, and the management of medicines required improvement, with inconsistencies in stock counts and record-keeping. Infection control measures were reassuringly in place.

Regarding effectiveness, while staff understood their roles and supported residents with choice and dignity, systems for identifying and addressing risks were not always robust. Care plans sometimes lacked necessary detail, and learning from incidents and falls needed to be more thorough to prevent recurrence.

The caring aspect of the service was generally positive, with staff treating residents kindly and families reporting good experiences. Residents appeared comfortable with staff, who offered support and comfort.

In terms of responsiveness, the service worked in partnership with other agencies, though there were instances where advice could have been sought more promptly. The management team did take action on concerns raised during the inspection.

On how well-led the service is, the report identified a lack of effective quality assurance systems and a reactive approach to improvements. Some required notifications to the CQC were not made in a timely manner. While staff felt supported by the registered manager and the culture was generally positive, leadership needed to be more proactive in identifying and addressing risks to ensure sustained high standards.
