Alexander Care Home is a residential care home that provides personal care and support for up to 28 people. This recent inspection report highlights the home's commitment to providing a good standard of care. The caring aspect of the service is a strong point, with residents and staff speaking highly of the compassionate and kind approach of the care team. Staff know residents well, respecting their privacy, dignity, and promoting independence. Residents are encouraged to make daily life decisions, and their views are incorporated into their care plans.
In terms of responsiveness, the home plans personalised care that meets residents' needs and preferences, with detailed care plans and one-page profiles for easy reference. Communication needs are addressed through person-centred approaches. While a part-time activities coordinator provides a programme of activities, some residents expressed a desire for more to do. The manager is aware of this and looking at ways to improve accessibility.
Finally, the service is well-led, with a positive culture fostered by the management team. Staff feel well-supported and speak positively about the new manager. The manager is committed to person-centred care and continuously works on improving the service, with regular quality and safety checks in place. The home has shown improvements since the current manager took charge.
