What inspectors found

Beechcare is a small residential home supporting up to five adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and physical disabilities. Following previous serious concerns, the provider and new management team worked hard to turn things around, successfully addressing past regulatory breaches and exiting special measures. Families looking at this home will find a clean, safe, and welcoming bungalow where a dedicated team focuses heavily on empowering residents, respecting their choices, and helping them achieve personal goals.

Residents are kept safe through thorough risk assessments, proper infection control measures, and careful monitoring of individual health needs such as epilepsy and nutrition. The home is fully staffed with permanent team members who know residents well, meaning no reliance on agency staff, though past incidents taught the team to implement longer observation times when minor medicine administration issues occurred.

Care outcomes are strong and tailored to daily life, with staff trained specifically in autism, communication tools, and positive behavior support. Dietary needs, including modified soft meals and weight management, are carefully followed, and residents enjoy a flexible, stimulating, and clean environment where they can personalize their rooms and access an improved sensory space.

Staff treat individuals with genuine compassion and respect their dignity while involving relatives and advocates in care planning. Residents are supported to maintain as much independence as possible with personal care and daily routines, though the inspection did note one isolated instance where a support plan contained incorrect information, even though staff correctly understood the proper procedures.

Leadership and governance have vastly improved, with management successfully establishing robust oversight of the service, safety checks, and care records. Although there is currently no registered manager in post, a new manager has taken over and is progressing through the formal registration process.
