Camelot Lodge provides a supportive home for up to nine adults with long-term mental health needs. Following previous recommendations, the service has successfully addressed past issues with staff recruitment checks and record-keeping, creating a stable environment where residents feel comfortable and well cared for. The home benefits from a visible management team and positive feedback from both residents and visiting mental health professionals, reflecting an open and dedicated approach to daily care.
Residents live in a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment where regular health and safety checks are carried out, and appropriate background checks are completed for all new staff. While safety measures are robust, past feedback from residents regarding the impact of a challenging admission led management to improve the assessment process so that current residents have more say in welcoming newcomers.
Staff receive proper inductions, training, and regular supervision, ensuring they are well-prepared to support individuals with mental health needs. Residents are encouraged to maintain independence, make their own healthcare appointments where able, and participate in managing their nutrition and daily routines.
Staff demonstrate a warm, respectful attitude, protecting residents' privacy and dignity while building genuine, friendly relationships. Confidentiality is maintained securely, and family members are always welcomed into the home.
Care plans are developed thoroughly through pre-admission assessments and transitional visits, ensuring residents are actively involved in shaping their support. People enjoy tailored weekly activities, ranging from gardening and home baking to voluntary work and adult education, though choices around some health habits like smoking remain limited by low uptake of cessation programs.
The registered manager is approachable, maintains active quality checks, and engages with external mental health groups to follow best practices. Although operations run smoothly, staff must continue to carefully monitor community integration and manage any remaining behavioral challenges among residents to maintain a peaceful living environment.
