Glendale Lodge

Glendale Lodge is a care home overlooking the Kent countryside, providing accommodation and personal care for up to 30 older people, including those living with dementia. At the time of our inspection, 29 people were using the service. The home was previously rated as maintaining high standards, and this inspection found that the positive quality of care continues across almost all areas, supported by a stable and experienced staff team and a dedicated registered manager.

Residents are protected from avoidable harm, supported by properly trained and safely recruited staff in a clean environment, though management has taken steps to ensure complete employment histories are recorded for all future staff.

While staff understand legal frameworks for decision-making, best-interest decisions regarding personal care were not always made in collaboration with other professionals or relatives, and lunchtime meal options did not consistently offer a second substantial main course.

Residents consistently describe the staff as kind, respectful, and attentive, noting that workers know them well and promote a warm, family-like atmosphere.

Care plans are personalised and up-to-date, reflecting individual preferences, end-of-life wishes, and access to engaging activities, with reliable channels open for feedback and concerns.

The service benefits from strong, professional leadership, clear oversight of quality and safety, good communication, and active partnerships with external healthcare professionals to ensure continuous improvement.
