Hatfield Lodge provides care and support for up to 34 older people, including those living with dementia. This report summarises the findings from an unannounced inspection conducted on 5 October 2017. The inspection aimed to assess the quality of care provided across five key areas, and the overall findings indicate a service where residents feel safe and well-supported. Regarding effectiveness, staff are well-trained and supported, ensuring they have the skills needed to provide care. Residents are offered choices in their daily lives, and their consent is sought before support is given. The service ensures residents have access to healthcare when needed, and the food provided is varied and enjoyable.
The care provided is described as caring, with staff building positive relationships with residents. Interactions are tailored to each individual's needs and preferences, and residents are treated with dignity and respect. Staff are noted for their kindness and willingness to go the extra mile to meet residents' wishes.
In terms of how responsive the service is, residents and their families are involved in developing and updating care plans to reflect their needs and preferences. A range of activities are available, which residents enjoy participating in. Complaints are managed appropriately, with timely responses and resolutions.

The registered manager and provider are seen as approachable and accessible by residents, staff, and relatives. Staff feel valued and that their contributions are heard, with regular feedback mechanisms in place to monitor and improve the quality of care.
