This inspection report for 1-3 Emily Jackson Close focuses on the care and support provided to individuals with learning disabilities and autism. The report covers five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led. It assesses how well the service meets the needs of its residents, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life, and highlights areas of strength and opportunities for improvement identified by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors during their visit.
On safety, while improvements have been made in safeguarding and medicine management, some risk assessments require more detailed guidance for staff to fully ensure resident safety, and the recording of incidents and accidents needs greater consistency. In terms of how effective the care is, residents' care plans are now personalised and regularly reviewed, and staff receive good quality training covering a wide range of needs, including communication and behaviour support. Regarding how caring the service is, staff understand residents' individual communication methods and promote their dignity and human rights, with relatives speaking positively about the support their loved ones receive. On responsiveness, the service effectively supports residents in making choices and decisions about their lives, and staff are knowledgeable about their health and social care needs, facilitating community access. Finally, concerning how well-led the service is, while the management team is working hard and staff morale is good, there are ongoing improvements needed in quality monitoring systems, and certain checks and audits did not identify all shortfalls, indicating a need for further development in governance processes.
