What inspectors found

Home Park Nursing Home provides personal and nursing care for up to 35 residents, with 34 people living there at the time of the inspection. The overall findings show a well-run environment where residents receive attentive support, meals tailored to personal preferences, and opportunities to stay active and independent. The management maintains an open culture, and staff work closely with visiting health professionals to ensure consistent care, while ongoing improvements and thorough staff training help keep residents safe and comfortable.

Residents are protected from harm through careful recruitment, proper safety checks on equipment, and safe medicine management. While infection control procedures are robust and risks are well assessed, one instance was noted where a resident's weight was incorrectly entered into monitoring records, meaning the clinical lead was not automatically alerted.

Staff complete thorough inductions and ongoing training, and while the building is not purpose-built, its layout successfully meets residents' needs. During the inspection, some ground floor corridors were dimly lit due to electrical work, but residents were safely guided through these areas by staff.

Residents and relatives consistently report that staff are kind, thoughtful, and respectful of personal choices and routines. Staff demonstrate a strong understanding of individual preferences, using life story records to provide holistic care and supporting residents to make daily decisions about meals and activities.

Care plans are detailed and reflect people's personal choices, while residents are encouraged to engage with the local community as independently and safely as possible.

The service is managed positively with an open-door policy, allowing staff, residents, and relatives to easily communicate with the management team, and leadership promptly shares important events with regulators as required.
