Staff received appropriate training, including induction programmes for new hires, and were supported through regular supervision. The service also ensured access to necessary healthcare professionals, making timely referrals as needed.
On the aspect of caring, staff were observed to be kind and attentive, showing a deep understanding of individual residents' needs and preferences. Residents were encouraged to be as independent as possible, with staff actively supporting them in daily tasks like cooking and personal care. Staff also made efforts to respect residents' privacy and dignity.
For responsiveness, the service excelled in supporting individuals moving into the home, with pre-admission assessments to ease transitions. Care plans were regularly reviewed and updated with resident and family involvement, and residents were encouraged to set and achieve personal goals. The service also ensured that residents could choose and participate in activities that matched their interests, with staff accommodating any changes in preference.
Finally, in terms of being well-led, the registered manager was approachable and actively involved in the day-to-day running of the service, fostering a positive environment for both staff and residents. Quality monitoring systems were in place, including various audits, and the manager proactively sought feedback from residents and staff through surveys and meetings to drive continuous improvement. While feedback from a recent survey indicated that seven out of ten people were not happy with the activities on offer, it was noted that all ten attendees at a related meeting expressed satisfaction with the activities they chose.
