This report provides an overview of the CQC inspection conducted at Israel Sieff Court on December 19, 2018. The inspection aimed to assess the quality of care and accommodation provided by the home, which is registered to support up to 35 residents, including those living with dementia. The findings from this inspection indicate that the service continues to meet a good standard across all assessed areas. The report details specific observations and feedback regarding the home's performance in ensuring resident safety, the effectiveness of care delivery, the compassionate nature of staff interactions, the responsiveness to residents' needs, and the overall leadership and management of the service.
On safety, residents expressed feeling secure and staff demonstrated a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities. Recruitment processes are thorough, ensuring suitability of staff, and regular checks are conducted on equipment and safety systems, including fire safety and personal evacuation plans. While medication management is robust, records for food and fluid intake were sometimes completed late, and the home has now updated this process to ensure real-time recording.
In terms of how effective the care is, residents receive comprehensive needs assessments that inform personalised care plans. Staff are well-trained and supported, with high compliance in training completion. The home collaborates effectively with healthcare professionals to meet residents' needs. While capacity assessments are conducted, there's a recommendation to ensure any conditions attached to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards are consistently integrated into care plans.
Regarding the caring aspect, residents consistently reported feeling well-cared for by kind and attentive staff. Staff were observed to know residents well, fostering friendly interactions. Care plans effectively capture residents' support needs and preferences, with input from residents and their families. However, there were noted periods where residents in communal areas lacked stimulation and were unsupported, leading to a recommendation for review of activity provision.
In terms of responsiveness, residents are supported to engage in activities both within and outside the home, although the aforementioned lack of stimulation in communal areas was identified. End-of-life care is managed with clear documentation and adherence to residents' wishes. Feedback from residents and relatives was positive, highlighting the welcoming environment.
On how well-led the service is, residents and staff feel supported by the management team, who are described as accessible and involved. Regular audits are conducted by both internal management and external district managers to monitor and drive improvements. The home is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with necessary safety features and a business continuity plan for emergencies.
