Passmonds House in Rochdale provides accommodation and personal care for up to 33 older people across two floors. Following previous concerns identified by inspectors, the home has made significant and major improvements to its building, cleanliness, and staffing levels. The service is now fully compliant with regulations, offering a clean, well-maintained environment where residents are supported by a dedicated team and an approachable manager who works closely with local authorities to maintain high standards of care.
Residents reported feeling safe and well-looked after, supported by secure premises and robust safeguarding procedures. Medicines are managed correctly by trained staff, and extensive structural repairs have successfully resolved previous hygiene and infection control issues. However, inspectors did note one minor point for improvement during their tour, finding some unsecured cleaning and grooming items in a communal bathroom that could be harmful if misused.
Care and support are delivered by a competent and properly trained team who understand individual needs and follow best practices. Staff have a good understanding of relevant legal frameworks regarding capacity and consent, ensuring residents are involved in decisions about their treatment. The home also works effectively with external healthcare professionals to make timely referrals and ensure individual health requirements are fully met.
Interactions between residents and staff are warm, friendly, and patient, creating a welcoming and respectful atmosphere. Staff clearly understand not only the physical support people require but also their personal preferences, and they actively encourage residents to form friendships.
