What inspectors found

Ranmore House is a small residential care home supporting up to five younger adults with learning disabilities and associated conditions such as autism. The recent inspection highlights a warm, person-centred environment where residents are encouraged to build independence and make their own choices. Relatives describe the staff as brilliant and kind, noting that loved ones feel extremely safe and well-cared for in a clean, well-maintained home with a positive atmosphere.

Families can feel reassured by robust safeguarding procedures, safe medicine management, and thorough staff recruitment that includes background checks. The only minor administrative hiccup noted was that a few hand-written entries on medicine sheets had not been signed, though staff addressed this immediately.

The team delivers tailored care supported by regular training, supervisions, and proper inductions, though at the time of the visit, staff had not yet completed the national Care Certificate qualification (though the manager had already enrolled everyone). Nutritional needs and health appointments are well managed, with extra staff provided if healthcare visits cause anxiety.

Residents are treated with deep compassion and respect by a stable, close-knit team that knows them well. Families and advocates are actively included in care reviews and decision-making processes since residents themselves may have communication difficulties.

Care plans are highly personalized and reflect individual routines, communication needs, and flexible activity schedules that include holidays, outings, and day centres. Complaints are welcomed as opportunities to improve, supported by easy-read formats and regular resident meetings.

The home benefits from a dedicated management structure where providers are hands-on and closely involved in daily operations alongside a new manager. Regular audits keep the service running smoothly, though official DoLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) authorizations were still pending assessment at the time of the inspection.
