What inspectors found

Redstone House is a small care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to four adults. At the time of our inspection, three people were living at the service. The home supports individuals with learning disabilities and autistic people, focusing on empowerment, dignity, and active involvement in daily life. Overall, the inspection found a supportive environment where residents are encouraged to maintain independence, make choices, and engage with their local community.

Safe. People are protected from avoidable harm, and residents confirmed they feel secure living at the home. Staff receive proper safeguarding training, follow safe recruitment procedures, manage medicines correctly, and maintain infection control measures, although an initial issue with PPE usage was addressed and corrected immediately.

Effective. Staff know residents well and support them in the least restrictive way possible in line with the Mental Capacity Act. Care is tailored to individual health needs, with regular monitoring of risks such as epilepsy and dietary requirements, and staff receive proper competency checks for tasks like medication administration.

Caring. The atmosphere is kind and respectful, with staff promoting people's rights, privacy, and dignity. Residents are actively encouraged to make personal decisions about their daily routines, meals, and care, and the team provides flexible support tailored to each person's preferences.

Responsive. Care is personalized, and the service adapts quickly when people's needs change or when incidents occur by working alongside external health professionals. However, an inspection finding noted that care plans and risk assessments do not always include enough detail, which the manager is planning to review.

Well-led. The home benefits from an approachable registered manager and an established, supportive staff team who maintain open communication with families and external professionals. Regular residents and staff meetings ensure that feedback from relatives, residents, and employees is listened to and acted upon.
