Inspected 22 June 2022 · report published 9 July 2022What inspectors found
Rosebery Manor is a modern purpose-built care home that provides accommodation, nursing, and personal care across three floors for up to 95 older adults, including individuals living with dementia. During the recent inspection, there were 72 people living at the service. The overall findings demonstrate that residents receive a high standard of support, led by a committed team, though the report highlights specific areas of focus across different aspects of daily life and operations.
When looking at safety, residents and their families felt secure, and robust recruitment procedures ensured that suitable staff were employed. Risk assessments were properly implemented, such as using sensor mats for fall prevention, and staff received safeguarding training. While medicines were generally managed very safely, the inspection noted one specific incident where a medication was missed because a repeat prescription had not been ordered on time, which prompted immediate management review and staff refresher training.
In terms of effectiveness, residents benefited from well-trained staff who completed thorough inductions, regular supervisions, and training compliance rates of 96%. Healthcare needs were closely monitored, with prompt GP referrals and good access to dental and other specialists. Residents praised the dining experience, and catering staff went to notable lengths to provide attractive texture-modified meals for those with specific dietary needs, though continuous monitoring of nutrition remained a standard practice.
The caring aspect of the service was highlighted by staff treating residents with kindness, dignity, and respect. Staff actively encouraged personal independence and choice, supporting individuals to make decisions about their daily routines and maintaining their personal freedom as much as possible.
Regarding responsiveness, care plans were tailored to individual needs and preferences. Residents enjoyed a wide range of in-house and external activities, and menu choices were developed with direct feedback from those living at the home. Concerns and feedback from both residents and relatives were welcomed and properly addressed.
The well-led category showed an effective management team maintaining strong oversight of the service. Staff felt valued in their roles and communicated well through handovers and team meetings. Although the home's manager was not formally registered with the CQC at the exact time of the inspection visit, their registration was officially confirmed shortly afterward, ensuring proper regulatory leadership.
