What inspectors found

The Willows is a care home that provides accommodation and personal care for eight individuals with visual impairments and learning disabilities, among other needs. This inspection found that the service continues to provide a good standard of care, maintaining its previous positive rating. The report highlights that residents are kept safe by staff who are well-versed in safeguarding procedures. While there are enough staff members to meet immediate needs, some feedback suggests that additional staff would enhance the service further, particularly in providing "extras."

In terms of how effective the care is, residents' needs are thoroughly assessed before they move in, and staff receive specialised training to support individual requirements. Communication among staff is effective, and residents are promptly referred to healthcare professionals when necessary. The environment is well-adapted for residents with visual impairments, promoting independence.

On how caring the staff are, residents and their relatives describe the team as kind and respectful. Staff are noted for taking the time to engage with individuals personally, respecting their privacy and dignity. Residents are encouraged to express their views and are actively involved in planning their care.

Regarding how responsive the service is, care is personalised to meet individual needs and preferences, with residents having the opportunity to influence their daily activities and outings. Rooms are decorated to feel homely, and the service actively supports residents in maintaining their faith. Complaints are handled effectively, and detailed end-of-life care plans are in place.

Finally, concerning how well-led the service is, a new registered manager has been appointed and will be joining soon. In their absence, the deputy manager provides effective oversight. The service fosters a warm and positive culture, actively seeking feedback from residents, relatives, and staff. There are strong governance systems in place to ensure continuous improvement and timely resolution of any issues.
