Stoke Lodge is a residential care home for up to nine individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and associated health needs, who may also experience challenging behaviours. This report summarises an inspection conducted on 18 December 2018, which found that the service continues to provide a good standard of care. The service has made significant improvements, particularly in how it provides outstanding personalised care that is highly responsive to individual needs and preferences. Families and residents consistently report that the dedicated staff team goes above and beyond to help people achieve their dreams and aspirations, leading to enriched lives and improved wellbeing. The registered manager actively seeks feedback and uses complaints to drive improvements.
On safety, the home has robust procedures in place to protect residents from harm, with staff receiving necessary training and understanding their safeguarding responsibilities. Identified risks are managed effectively, and sufficient staff are deployed to ensure the safety of residents. The home maintains high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and staff follow food safety regulations.
In terms of how effective the care is, the service has successfully addressed previous training needs, particularly for staff supporting individuals with autism. Care plans are regularly reviewed and updated, and staff are skilled at referring residents to external healthcare services when needed. Residents are supported to maintain healthy lifestyles and are involved in decisions about their personal spaces. The service also upholds the Mental Capacity Act 2005, ensuring decisions are made in residents' best interests and with the least restriction.

This includes supporting individuals with complex needs to fulfil lifelong dreams, such as visiting Disneyland, and finding creative ways to involve residents in family events when direct attendance is not possible.
The service is well-led by a registered manager who inspires staff to deliver care aligned with the home's core values of dignity, independence, and choice. The provider has effective performance management processes in place, and the registered manager has established strong links within the local community to meet residents' needs and preferences.
