Sunnyfields is a care home for up to four individuals with learning disabilities. This report follows a recent change in ownership and is the first inspection under the new provider. The inspection found that the service is designed to promote choice, independence, and inclusion, aiming for residents to live as ordinary a life as possible.
On safety, the home ensures people are protected from abuse, with staff well-trained in identifying and reporting concerns. Robust risk assessments are in place for both the environment and individuals, and incidents are monitored to prevent future occurrences. Medicines are managed safely and accurately, and recruitment practices are thorough, ensuring suitable staff are employed. Sufficient staffing levels are maintained to meet residents' needs and ensure their safety, with effective infection control measures in place.
In terms of how effective the care is, residents benefit from social mealtimes and have their health and social needs assessed and incorporated into care plans. In terms of being well-led, the provider and house manager effectively oversee the service. Quality assurance systems are in place to identify areas for improvement. There has been a positive impact on staff morale, with staff working collaboratively towards the provider's vision. The provider actively supports the house manager and spends time at the service, contributing to a positive working environment and the overall improvement of the service.
