The Elton Unit, part of The Priory Highbank Centre, was inspected by the CQC on 21 and 22 May 2018. This unannounced visit reviewed the care and accommodation provided to 25 residents with complex neurological and behavioural needs. The management demonstrates a clear understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, ensuring resident autonomy is respected and any necessary restrictions are legally authorised.
On the aspect of caring, staff are described as consistently demonstrating kindness and compassion. Residents and their families noted a friendly, caring, and happy atmosphere within the unit, with staff being approachable and supportive. This positive environment fosters strong relationships and allows for sensitive support, especially in interpreting nonverbal communication.
