While most medication administration processes were sound, an improvement is needed regarding the accuracy of the controlled drug book. On how effective the care is, residents' needs are assessed prior to admission, and staff receive appropriate training, though a specific 'move and assist' training gap was identified for some staff. The home is also well-equipped to support residents with their dietary and healthcare needs. Regarding how caring the service is, residents and their relatives consistently reported being treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. Staff were observed to build good rapport and relationships with residents, promoting their independence and personal expression. In terms of how responsive the service is, residents are involved in social activities, and there is confidence that any concerns raised will be listened to and acted upon. Care plans are well-documented and reflect residents' individual needs and preferences. Finally, looking at how well-led the service is, residents and relatives described the management as effective and supportive. Quality assurance processes are in place to monitor service quality, and lessons are learned from incidents, although improvements are recommended to ensure follow-up actions are robust. A key recommendation has been made concerning a review of staffing levels to better meet resident needs.
