Wey Valley House provides care for older people in a residential setting and also offers a home care service. This report summarises an inspection that assessed how well the service protects residents, how effective care is, how staff interact with residents, how well the service responds to people's needs, and how well it is managed.
On safety, residents and their families feel secure, with comprehensive risk assessments in place for various aspects of care, including medication and fire safety, and robust recruitment procedures ensure suitable staff are employed.
In terms of how effective the care is, residents are well supported to maintain good health and access necessary healthcare services, with staff working collaboratively with other professionals. Feedback on the food is positive, with an in-house catering team now in place, and staff receive thorough training and regular supervision.
The caring aspect of the service is highlighted by residents and relatives who consistently describe staff as kind, compassionate, and attentive, fostering positive relationships and treating everyone with dignity and respect.
Regarding responsiveness, residents are encouraged to participate in activities and outings, with ample opportunities to engage with their local community, and their feedback, particularly regarding the menu, is actively listened to and acted upon.
Finally, concerning how well-led the service is, the management team provides effective oversight, ensuring care is well-planned and delivered, with regular quality monitoring and audits in place to consistently check and improve service aspects.
