Woodstown House is a purpose-built care home that provides personal and nursing care, as well as specialized rehabilitation services, for up to 40 adults living with physical disabilities or sensory impairments. At the time of our inspection, 11 people were living across one floor of the facility. Overall, residents and their families shared positive experiences, highlighting that staff were attentive, approachable, and created a welcoming, well-managed environment.
Residents reported feeling secure, and staff demonstrated a solid understanding of how to manage risks and recognize signs of abuse. Medicines were handled safely, the premises and equipment underwent regular safety checks, and the home maintained proper infection control procedures.
Care was delivered in line with clinical guidance, supported by thorough pre-admission assessments and an in-house physiotherapy team. Staff completed structured inductions and regular training, though the provider was actively working on plans to enhance the interior decoration to make the environment feel more homely.
Feedback from families confirmed that residents were treated with genuine kindness, respect, and compassion. Staff ensured that personal privacy and dignity were consistently upheld during daily routines and support tasks.
Care plans were personalized and detailed individual risks, preferences, and communication needs. While residents had access to group and one-to-one activities, the home received mixed feedback regarding activity provision, prompting the provider to actively recruit new activities staff to expand these offerings.
The home was managed effectively with a positive, open culture supported by clear quality monitoring systems. Residents and relatives knew how to raise concerns and expressed full confidence that the management team would listen and address any issues appropriately.
