This report summarises the findings of an inspection conducted on 30 August and 4 September 2018, which found that the service continues to meet the high standards previously identified, with no serious risks or concerns noted. The inspection assessed the service against five key questions: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led.

Regarding safety, systems are in place to protect residents from harm, including robust medication management and comprehensive risk assessments that involve residents. Staff are well-trained in safeguarding procedures, and safe recruitment practices are consistently followed, ensuring sufficient and skilled staff are available to meet residents' needs. Environmental safety is also well-managed, with regular checks and maintenance ensuring a clean and secure living space.

In terms of how effective the care is, residents receive detailed needs assessments that consider all aspects of their well-being, including cultural and spiritual needs. Staff are well-trained and supported with ongoing development, including specialist training relevant to mental health conditions. The service promotes equality and diversity, and residents are supported to access necessary healthcare appointments and manage their diet effectively.

On the caring aspect, residents confirmed positive relationships with staff, feeling well-supported and involved in decisions about their care. The home fosters a friendly and supportive atmosphere where staff demonstrate empathy and respect for individual needs. Residents are encouraged to maintain relationships with loved ones through an open-door policy and suitable communal spaces for visits, ensuring privacy and dignity are always upheld.

The service is responsive to residents' needs, with staff actively listening to concerns and preferences. Residents are supported to structure their days with meaningful activities and to pursue their hobbies and interests, both within the home and in the community. Care records are comprehensive and person-centred, clearly outlining support strategies to promote independence and emotional well-being.

Finally, concerning how well-led the service is, the registered manager promotes an open and inclusive culture, with systems in place to monitor quality and safety. There is a strong commitment to resident involvement in developing care plans, and the service actively seeks opportunities for improvement and responds positively to suggestions. Communication within the team is effective, ensuring continuity of care and a well-coordinated approach to supporting residents.
