Cedar Lodge Nursing Home provides accommodation with nursing and personal care for up to 60 older individuals, housing 52 residents at the time of our unannounced inspection in June 2018. Following a previous inspection that required improvements, this visit found that the home had successfully addressed prior concerns and met all required standards. The service offers a supportive and well-structured environment where residents receive attentive, individualized care from a dedicated team, ensuring their overall well-being and daily needs are met to a high standard.
Residents lived in a secure environment where potential risks were properly assessed and managed to help maintain their independence, supported by sufficient numbers of skilled staff who followed strict infection control and safe medication management procedures. Care was delivered by knowledgeable staff who respected legal frameworks regarding mental capacity and consent, ensuring decisions were made in residents' best interests while meeting their nutritional needs in a recently refurbished setting. The atmosphere remained compassionate, with staff treating individuals with dignity and actively encouraging their personal choices and daily independence. Care plans were comprehensive and regularly reviewed, reflecting personalized support, a varied activities program, responsive complaint handling, and sensitive end-of-life care. Leadership was effective, featuring active quality monitoring, regular audits, and open communication channels where residents, relatives, and staff could share their views and collaborate with external agencies.
