What inspectors found

Fountain View provides specialist care for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs, offering a supportive environment focused on individual potential and community integration. This report highlights key aspects of the service, giving families valuable insight into its operations and the quality of care provided.

On safety, the home maintains robust procedures to protect residents, including clear guidance on recognising and responding to abuse, and safe management of medications. Staff are well-trained, and there are sufficient numbers to meet residents' needs, with thorough checks for new employees. While most incidents are investigated effectively, there was a noted instance requiring improvement in escalating unexplained bruising, which the management has since addressed. The premises are kept clean and infection control measures are in place, with ongoing efforts to improve fire safety and environmental risks, ensuring residents' well-being.

In terms of how effective the care is, Fountain View ensures residents' rights are protected by embedding the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards into its practices. Staff receive comprehensive training and development, supporting residents with their dietary needs and ensuring healthcare is managed effectively through joint working with other professionals. The premises are generally well-suited to residents' needs, though some areas require ongoing improvement, such as addressing ceiling damage and exploring level access for residents with mobility issues.

When it comes to caring, staff demonstrate genuine passion and commitment, prioritising residents' positive experiences and well-being. They actively support residents in maintaining and developing relationships with family and friends, and consistently respect individuality, choices, and independence. Residents are treated with dignity and respect, fostering a warm and supportive atmosphere within the home.

The service is highly responsive to individual needs, with a strong emphasis on person-centred care that empowers residents to reach their full potential. Staff and the manager show deep commitment, leading to positive outcomes. Residents with complex needs are supported in the least restrictive way, encouraging their independence and inclusion in the wider community, which in turn promotes acceptance and understanding. This focus ensures residents lead active and meaningful lives with opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment.

Finally, the service is exceptionally well-led. Both residents, their families, and staff speak very highly of the registered manager, describing them as forward-thinking and exceptional. A positive and passionate culture is evident, with robust management systems in place to support effective operations. The team focuses on proactive interventions and encouraging self-help strategies, which contributes significantly to the positive outcomes achieved for residents. Continuous assessment and monitoring of quality and safety are integral to the service's commitment to learning and innovation.
