What inspectors found

Ridgemede Care is a residential home located in Bishops Waltham, supporting up to 36 older people and individuals living with dementia within a large detached property. At the time of this inspection, 30 residents lived in the home. The latest report highlights that previous concerns regarding medication management, environmental safety, and mental capacity consents have been fully addressed through proactive action plans implemented by the management and staff team.

The home maintains a secure environment where staff understand how to protect residents from abuse and carry out thorough recruitment checks on new employees. Medicines are stored and administered safely, and previous issues with building safety have been resolved, though continued vigilance is required to maintain these high standards.

Staff have the right skills and training to support residents, following proper legal frameworks when individuals cannot make decisions for themselves. Nutritional needs are properly assessed, and the home maintains strong partnerships with local healthcare professionals.

Residents appear comfortable and relaxed, and staff treat them with kindness, dignity, and respect while fully understanding their individual preferences. People are actively involved in making decisions about their daily care and support as far as possible.

Care plans are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect any changes in people's needs, including detailed pre-admission assessments that capture personal preferences. There are also clear systems in place for handling any complaints should they arise.

The registered manager has fostered a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where residents can thrive. Effective auditing systems are regularly used to monitor all aspects of care and drive continuous improvement across the service.
