What inspectors found

Lime Tree House is a residential care home located in Sale, Cheshire, providing short and long-term accommodation and non-medical support for up to six people following the Christian Science faith. At the time of inspection, the service was supporting four residents. The home is built on the values of spiritual healing and Christian Science practices, creating an environment where residents' faith and individual wishes sit at the core of daily life.

The service maintains a safe environment where risks are properly assessed and managed by a well-trained team. Regular health and safety checks are carried out, equipment is serviced according to guidelines, and infection control standards are met. There are always two Christian Science nurses on duty, ensuring staff respond quickly when called, though the report does not highlight any significant safety shortfalls beyond standard ongoing monitoring.

Care outcomes remain strong, with residents fully supported to make their own choices in line with the Mental Capacity Act. Nutritional requirements and personal dietary preferences are carefully catered for on an individual basis. The physical environment is well-adapted, featuring ensuite wet rooms, specialized beds, and track hoists in every bedroom to assist with mobility and maintain skin integrity.

Residents and relatives consistently praise the exceptionally caring, loving, and respectful atmosphere created by the staff. The team focuses heavily on encouraging independence, helping residents progress, and supporting them through non-medical and spiritual interventions. While the culture is overwhelmingly positive and staff morale is very high, the home continuously works to maintain these deeply personalized, compassionate standards without relying on medical interventions.

The service responds effectively to individual needs through detailed person-centered care plans that reflect each resident's life history, preferences, and goals. Staff actively communicate and collaborate with residents on their care tasks. Furthermore, the management proactively assists individuals in planning for their future, whether that means arranging seamless transitions back to their own homes or to other long-term care settings once their stay concludes.

The home is exceptionally well-led by a registered manager who is highly respected by residents, relatives, staff, and the wider Christian Science community. Lime Tree House functions as the only training provider for Christian Science nurses in the UK, maintaining strong global connections. A transparent culture, robust quality assurance systems, and regular peer observations ensure that high operational standards and staff motivation are consistently driven forward.
