What inspectors found

Mr and Mrs Akbarally in West Ewell is a small residential care home that currently supports two adults with learning disabilities, functioning as a cosy and close-knit family home. Due to its intimate size and the long-standing presence of staff and two managers who are on-site all day, residents receive highly individualized attention and are treated very much like family. The environment fosters independence, inclusion, and a normal daily routine, with relatives expressing deep trust and comfort in the safety and quality of care provided. While previous minor issues regarding administrative and safety checks from past years have been fully resolved, the service continues its ongoing efforts to maintain and slightly improve its high care standards.

Risks to residents are carefully monitored and balanced against their right to a non-restricted life, while safety checks, infection control, and staff recruitment procedures are properly managed and up to date.

Care outcomes are consistently strong and tailored to individual needs, supported by well-trained staff, regular health appointments, a balanced diet including personal preferences, and a clean, adapted living environment.

Residents are treated with deep compassion, dignity, and respect, with careful attention given to their religious, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, as well as involving them in household decisions and activities.

Personalized care plans accurately reflect each resident's hobbies, goals, and history, ensuring access to a wide range of outings, holidays, and community activities, backed by clear complaints and end-of-life procedures.

The management team is visible, approachable, and proactive, maintaining thorough quality assurance audits, open communication with families, and strong partnerships with local community groups and healthcare professionals.
