Park View Care Centre is a residential care home providing nursing and personal care for up to 88 adults, including those living with dementia or requiring complex nursing support. Recent inspections show the home has made notable progress since its previous difficult period, with residents and their families reporting a much-improved, safer, and more positive daily atmosphere. While significant steps forward have been taken regarding overall culture, staffing levels, and general safety, the home still has important areas that require continued attention and development to ensure consistently high standards.
When it comes to safety, the home has successfully addressed previous concerns around staffing numbers and safeguarding, ensuring enough team members are present to meet residents' needs and respond to incidents properly. However, risk management and medicine administration still need work, as some individual care plans contained outdated information, and medicine records or guidance for as-needed treatments were not always accurately maintained.
Regarding effectiveness, staff have completed a wider range of training, including preparing specialised textured diets and handling daily care tasks with improved competence. On the other hand, certain routines such as regular repositioning schedules were not always recorded consistently, and staff still require specialized training in end-of-life care and more regular professional supervision.
The caring aspect of the home is a strong point, with residents and relatives consistently noting that staff know individuals well, treat them with genuine warmth, and respect their personal preferences.
The service is also responsive to daily needs, offering meaningful activities and ensuring that residents can spend time in communal areas or welcome visitors freely, supported by a much more open and approachable management team.
Leadership and oversight have improved through stronger management and better monitoring systems, which have successfully lifted the home out of its previous critical status. Nevertheless, these new management systems are still relatively new and need more time to become fully embedded across all daily operations.
