This report summarises the findings of a recent inspection of Seaview, a care home providing personal care for individuals with learning and support needs. A concern was noted regarding some staff working long shifts due to staffing levels, but this was addressed promptly with new staff joining and agency cover arranged.
In terms of how effective the care is, residents' needs are thoroughly assessed before they move in, and this information is used to create person-centred support plans. Staff receive appropriate training and support, enabling them to effectively assist residents with their healthcare needs, including diet, hydration, and accessing medical services.
The service is caring, with staff demonstrating kindness and a deep understanding of the residents' individual needs and communication styles. Residents are treated with dignity and respect, and there's a relaxed atmosphere within the home that contributes positively to their well-being. Residents are actively involved in decisions about their care and daily lives.
Regarding how responsive the service is, residents have opportunities to provide feedback through surveys and house meetings, and they feel comfortable raising concerns. Systems are in place to manage complaints and ensure that residents' and their families' views are heard and acted upon.
On being well-led, the service actively works to maintain and improve the quality of care through regular reviews and partnerships with other agencies. Incidents and accidents are reported and used as opportunities for learning and enhancing the support provided to residents. The service operates within best practice guidance, promoting choice and control for its residents.
