The Grange Care Home

The Grange Care Home provides accommodation and nursing or personal care for up to 28 older people living with dementia, frailty, and mobility needs, with 11 residents living at the service during this unannounced inspection. Following previous concerns identified in July 2018 regarding medicines, staff recruitment checks, and management oversight, a full follow-up inspection confirmed that all previous regulatory breaches had been successfully met. The home was overseen by a temporary manager and an acting manager, ensuring continuous leadership while a permanent manager completed the registration process.

When looking at safety, the service addressed past issues by ensuring medicines were stored, recorded, and administered correctly, and thorough recruitment checks including criminal records screenings were fully completed before new staff started work. Care was delivered effectively as staff received appropriate training and supervision, monitored health needs closely, and supported residents to maintain adequate nutrition and access external healthcare professionals. Staff demonstrated a caring approach by treating residents with dignity and respect while supporting their privacy and personal independence. The service proved to be responsive through personalized care planning, involvement of families, and provision of regular daily activities and accessible complaint procedures. Finally, leadership was well-organized, with improved quality checks, active engagement with staff and relatives, and effective collaboration with outside agencies.
