On safety, the service consistently ensured residents felt secure and protected from harm. Staff demonstrated a strong understanding of safeguarding protocols and were well-trained in identifying and responding to potential abuse. Risk assessments were thorough, covering areas like community access and medication, and robust procedures were in place for fire safety and emergency preparedness. Infection control measures were effective, and the home was kept clean, with staff well-versed in hygiene practices. Recruitment processes were robust, ensuring suitable staff were employed, and there were sufficient staffing levels to meet residents' needs promptly.
In terms of how effective the care is, residents' needs were carefully assessed before they moved in, with care plans developed and adapted as staff gained a deeper understanding of individual preferences. Staff received appropriate training and support, including induction and regular supervision, which relatives confirmed equipped them well for their roles. Residents enjoyed varied and balanced meals, with dietary needs and allergies carefully managed. The home also facilitated good communication and collaboration with external health and social care professionals to ensure consistent and timely support for residents.
The service achieved outstanding results in its caring approach, with staff demonstrating exceptional compassion, kindness, dignity, and respect. Residents were consistently placed at the heart of care planning and delivery, with a strong emphasis on promoting their independence and involvement in decisions. Staff effectively used various communication methods, including visual aids and body language, to support residents with complex communication needs. Feedback regarding the registered manager was overwhelmingly positive, indicating strong leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement. The service proactively applied best practice guidance, ensuring residents could live as full a life as possible with choice, control, and independence. While the home is larger than current best practice guidance for a domestic-style property, this was mitigated by its design and integration into the residential area, with no external signs to identify it as a care facility.
