This report summarises an inspection of The Tamarind, a care home for up to five individuals with learning disabilities. The inspection took place on 19 December 2018. The report found that people using the service and their relatives were highly complimentary about the staff and the care provided. Overall, the inspection noted that the home provided a safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led service, with staff demonstrating kindness and a deep understanding of residents' needs and preferences. The home's environment was also found to be well-maintained and suitable for its residents, with a focus on promoting independence and community inclusion.

On safety, the home ensured residents were protected from harm, with robust systems for infection control and learning from incidents. Staff were well-recruited, trained, and present in sufficient numbers, and medication was managed by competent personnel.

In terms of how effective the care is, residents were supported by well-trained staff who understood their responsibilities, particularly concerning the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Residents received adequate nutrition and hydration, and the environment was well-maintained to meet their needs.
