This report summarises an inspection of Tudor House, a service providing short-term care and support for up to four individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism. The inspection aimed to assess the quality and safety of the care provided, focusing on five key areas. The service is designed to help people live fulfilling lives with choice and independence.
Regarding safety, the home ensures people are protected from harm with sufficient, well-recruited staff who understand risk management. Medicines are administered safely, and infection control measures are in place to maintain a clean environment. The provider actively learns from incidents to improve services.
On effectiveness, the care provided consistently achieves good outcomes for people. Assessments are thorough, covering all needs, and staff receive ongoing training and support to ensure their practice is effective. People are actively involved in meal choices and preparation, and the service works collaboratively with other agencies to ensure seamless care.
In terms of caring, staff are consistently described as warm, friendly, and kind, treating residents with dignity and respect. People and their relatives feel well-supported, and staff are adept at providing consistent care that reduces anxiety, even for individuals who are non-verbal. Independence and new skill development are actively encouraged.
The service is responsive to individual needs, with personalised support plans that reflect people's preferences and aspirations. Communication needs are recognised and met through accessible formats. The service is actively working on further enhancing its approach to acknowledging diverse aspects of people's backgrounds, such as ethnicity and culture, during the assessment process.
In relation to being well-led, the management team is clear about their roles and responsibilities. A consistent staff team and a well-defined management structure are in place, with regular quality audits to ensure high standards. Feedback from people and their relatives is actively sought and used for continuous improvement.
