In terms of how effective the care is, staff receive comprehensive induction and ongoing training, ensuring they understand their responsibilities, particularly regarding the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Residents' nutritional needs are met, and necessary referrals to health and social care professionals are made promptly. Care plans are individualised, and staff are knowledgeable about residents' complex health conditions and how to manage them effectively.
Regarding caring practices, staff demonstrated empathy and kindness, showing a strong understanding of residents' preferences and routines. There's a consistent effort to promote resident independence by encouraging informed decision-making. Staff treat residents with dignity and respect, and residents and their relatives are actively involved in care planning, with advocacy services available if needed.
The service was found to be exceptionally responsive, with care being truly person-centred and focused on individual needs. Staff excel at understanding and responding to residents' concerns, even when expressed non-verbally. Care plans are regularly reviewed and updated, and residents are supported to pursue their interests and engage in a variety of social activities that match their preferences.
In terms of leadership, staff feel valued and well-supported, which contributes to the high standard of care provided. The management team actively seeks feedback from residents and their relatives, using this input to drive improvements. The home has established quality monitoring systems to maintain its standards, and there is a continuous drive to innovate and improve systems and processes to better meet residents' needs and regulatory requirements.
