Peldon Campus is a care service providing accommodation, personal care, and support for adults living with learning disabilities and mental health needs across four separate homes. Residents and families can expect a safe, secure environment where risks are properly assessed and staff know how to protect vulnerable individuals. Medication management is well-organized, and staff maintain good hygiene practices, though management has already arranged a deep clean for some communal areas in the residential home that needed extra attention.
Residents benefit from effective care delivered by a knowledgeable, experienced team that understands individual needs and communicates well with external healthcare professionals, such as dieticians and GPs. While staff receive strong induction training and regular supervision, ongoing competency assessments for daily practices are not yet formally documented outside of initial training. The environment across most homes is bright and welcoming, though plans are already in place to refurbish and update the older parts of the residential accommodation.
The atmosphere is genuinely caring and compassionate, with staff showing deep affection and respect for the people they support. Team members take time to understand both verbal communication and subtle non-verbal cues like hand gestures and facial expressions. Staff strongly encourage personal independence, ensuring residents are treated with dignity, have their privacy respected, and maintain active, close connections with their families and friends.
Care is tailored flexibly to individual preferences, allowing residents to take part in community activities, shopping trips, horse-riding, and specialized day opportunities. While care plans are detailed and regularly updated, some documents contain outdated information that needs archiving to make them more user-friendly. Additionally, care plans currently lack detailed information regarding preferred end of life care, a gap the management team is actively addressing with staff and families.
The service is led by an experienced and approachable registered manager who maintains clear oversight and fosters an open, supportive culture among the staff team. Management actively promotes person-centered values, works closely with external agencies, and regularly engages with relatives and staff through meetings and surveys to continuously monitor and improve the quality of care provided.
